October 30th 2016 Meeting
Those attending included: Liz Wilson, Arlene Guest, Miranda Clemson
Topics:
Further discussion of 501(c)(3)non-profit status. Everyone who has looked at this has agreed it is too long and involved for us at this point.
However, further research shows that 501(c)(3) status is not necessary for people to be able to deduct their donation if gross receipts are less than $5000 and if individual contributions are less than a certain amount. We would have to file a yearly”e-postcard”

The main topic of discussion at this working meeting was planning for the presentation for the selectboard.
The reason for the presentation is to make the selectboard aware of our purposes and projects, solicit their support and propose better communication between the Selectboard and the Fairlee Gardeners
We agreed the presentation should be short. 5-10 minutes maximum.
Presentation should include:
- Mission statement or statement of purpose
- Projects we’ve done
- What we’ve done and what we plan to do (with photos)
Liz will start working on a short Powerpoint with these elements
Discussion of wreath making party on December 3rd.
Miranda and Arlene will keep an eye out for special ribbons and decorations at local thrift stores.
Calista Diane says we can get greens from Kathy Baker(Orford). She said to call after the first of November. We might need a truck to go pick them up.
Barb Curran says Franks in Claremont have Christmas decorations and wreath frames very inexpensively, 5$ range.
Miranda will ask if we can use the Grange Room at the Town Hall, if not we’ll need to find a sizable place room or garage to have it.
